Improved Commit Emails
Monday, August 08, 2011Last week, we rolled out a new version of our commit emails which should offer some improvements over the way they have previously worked. It has already been live for several days, however chose to roll it out quietly and watched/tested it some more over the weekend to make sure no errors cropped up from existing repositories that had the feature turned on.
To summarize some of the changes:
- We’ve renamed them from “collaborator commit emails” to just “commit emails”.
- They will now email whenever anyone pushes to the repository, including repository owners. Previously, it would skip over repository owners.
- Added a new option to be able to scope the emails to only a certain branch for Git and Mercurial repositories. This means you can set it up to only email you for changes made in “master”, for instance.
- Updated the email to include an HTML format.
Now when editing preferences for a repository, you’ll see the updated preferences with the new option.
